Robot Brief

Neo1 is a heavy-duty humanoid robot developed by NeodraDynamics, a Beijing company founded in 2024. It stands in the 4-metre class and, according to the company, weighs 1.2 tonnes. Where many humanoids rely on electric motors, Neo1 drives 39 of its 41 active joints with the company's own miniature digital hydraulic linear actuators, and uses electric drives only for the two forearm rotation joints. The company claims a 500 kg dual-arm collaborative payload. Neo1 debuted at the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing and was shown again at the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) in October 2026 with JD Industrial, which plans pilot applications with the company. It is at prototype and pilot stage, with no published price or delivery date.

Use Cases

  • Heavy component handling:
Lifts and positions heavy parts in assembly and port cargo operations, using a claimed 500 kg dual-arm payload.
  • Nuclear facility work:
Targets fuel transfer and equipment maintenance, using radiation-resistant hydraulic modules according to the company.
  • Subsea maintenance:
Proposed for equipment maintenance under high underwater pressure.
  • Mining and disaster response:
Proposed for demolition, debris clearance and work in hazardous zones.

All applications are company-proposed. No commercial deployment has been announced.

Industries

Intro

Neo1 is a 4-metre-class humanoid with 41 active degrees of freedom. Thirty-nine core joints use NeodraDynamics' self-developed miniature digital hydraulic linear actuators, each weighing about 1 kg and producing what the company describes as ton-level continuous thrust. The two forearm rotation joints use electric servo drives, where precise turning matters more than force. The company claims a 500 kg dual-arm collaborative payload, a weight of 1.2 tonnes (stated in the headline of its October 2026 release) and repeat positioning accuracy of plus or minus 0.005 mm. The arms are described as 7-DoF humanoid arms with five-finger dexterous hands.

Specifications have shifted between releases. The September 2026 release described a 1.1 kg hydraulic cylinder driving a 1,000 kg load at 1 micrometre repeatability, and fingertip repeatability of plus or minus 0.05 mm. The October 2026 release gives roughly 1 kg per actuator and plus or minus 0.005 mm. The company has not published sensors, compute, power unit, runtime, speed or environmental ratings. It states the design tolerates radiation, deep-sea pressure, extreme temperatures, heavy dust and vibration, but this has not been independently tested.

Connectivity

Capabilities

  • Hydraulic-electric hybrid drive:
39 hydraulic joints for force and impact resistance, plus 2 electric forearm joints for precise rotation.
  • Heavy dual-arm payload:
Claimed 500 kg combined across both arms.
  • High claimed precision:
Repeat positioning accuracy stated at plus or minus 0.005 mm (October 2026 release).
  • Dexterous hands:
    Five-finger hands on 7-DoF arms.
  • Harsh-environment design:
Company-stated tolerance of radiation, pressure, temperature extremes, dust and vibration, not independently verified.
