Intro

RoboParty is a Shanghai robotics company that develops open-source humanoid robots for researchers, educators and individual developers. Its legal entity is Shanghai RoboParty Technology Co., Ltd. (上海萝博派对科技有限公司), which the company states was founded on 21 February 2025. Its founder and chief executive, Yi Huang (黄一), was born in 2004 and studied at Harbin Institute of Technology, according to 36Kr and Chinese financial press.

RoboParty publishes hardware designs and software for its robots on GitHub. ROBOTO Origin (RPO), a do-it-yourself bipedal humanoid that can be built from off-the-shelf parts, was fully open-sourced in January 2026 under the GNU General Public License v3. The ROBOTO 01 (RP1) humanoid was unveiled at the IROS 2026 robotics conference in Pittsburgh on 28 September 2026; RoboParty states its joints deliver up to 160 N·m peak torque and that it takes interchangeable head modules.

The company also offers the RP Hand dexterous hand and the ROMOMO joint module, and runs RoboParty Lab, which publishes research software including the Party OS development platform. It states that more than 5,000 developers use its platforms.

RoboParty is privately held and venture-backed. It announced a USD 20 million angel round in March 2026, co-led by SenseTime Guoxiang Capital and Matrix Partners China; an angel+ round of tens of millions of US dollars led by Shunwei Capital with Xiaomi's strategic investment arm in May 2026; and angel++ and pre-A rounds totalling nearly RMB 500 million in July 2026, in which existing shareholders added to their stakes and CATL was the sole pre-A investor. Lighthouse Capital (光源资本) acted as incubator and financial adviser for these rounds. Headcount has not been disclosed.
