Robot Brief

Luna is a full-size interactive humanoid robot developed by LimX Dynamics, positioned as the company's entertainment, performance, and public engagement platform. Standing 1,600 mm tall and weighing 54 kg, Luna features 27 degrees of freedom, a premium textile exterior, a face interaction screen, and a second-generation Sys 0 high-performance motion engine with upgraded joint motors delivering up to 200 Nm of peak torque. Designed for commercial venues including shopping malls, museums, theme parks, and live stages, Luna is built around three core differentiators: swarm synchronisation of over 200 units at millisecond precision, an AI task editor enabling scene creation from natural language input, and a video imitation system that replicates human movement directly from uploaded video footage.

Use Cases

  • Live Performance and Dance:
Executes dynamic dance routines, gymnastics sequences, and catwalk gaits using the Sys 0 motion engine, with preloaded routines and custom choreography supported via the Content Development Kit.
  • Swarm Synchronised Formation Shows:
Coordinates over 200 Luna units simultaneously at millisecond precision via intelligent swarm control, enabling large-scale formation performances and visual spectacles at events and branded activations.
  • Video-to-Motion Imitation:
Analyses and replicates human movement directly from an uploaded video file, converting it into executable robot motion without manual programming.
  • Natural Language Scene Creation via AI Task Editor:
Operators describe a performance scenario in plain text, and the AI task editor composes dance, motion, visual, and voice elements into a complete task sequence automatically.
  • Multimodal Visitor Interaction:
Engages visitors through natural gesture-synchronised conversation using a face interaction screen, microphone, and speaker, with context-aware responses for reception and guided interaction in public venues.
  • Kinesthetic Teaching:
Allows direct physical guidance of the robot's limbs to record and replay custom movements, providing an intuitive programming method that requires no coding.

Industries

  • Entertainment and Live Events:
Performs at concerts, galas, brand launches, and public ceremonies as a choreographed solo or synchronised group performer, with swarm control supporting up to 200-unit productions.
  • Retail and Commercial Spaces:
Deployed in shopping malls and flagship stores as an interactive brand ambassador and visitor engagement platform.
  • Tourism and Cultural Venues:
Serves as an interactive guide and performance centrepiece in museums, theme parks, and tourist attractions.
  • Hospitality and Corporate Events:
Provides reception, interactive greeting, and performance functions at hotels, exhibition centres, and corporate events.

Intro

Luna stands 1,600 mm tall with a shoulder width of 470 mm and an arm length of 690 mm including the hand, and weighs 54 kg with its drawer-style hot-swappable battery installed. Its 27 active degrees of freedom are distributed as: 6 DoF per leg (12 total), 5 DoF per arm (10 total), 3 DoF at the waist, and 2 DoF at the neck.

Joint range specifications cover:

  • neck (pitch ±30°, yaw ±45°)
  • shoulder (pitch -60° to 175°, roll -5° to 110°, yaw -90° to 145°)
  • elbow (pitch -30° to 137°), wrist (yaw ±90°)
  • waist (pitch -45° to 30°, roll ±30°, yaw ±90°)
  • hip (pitch -90° to 175°, roll -60° to 90°, yaw ±90°)
  • knee (pitch +5° to 140°
  • ankle (pitch -35° to 58°, roll ±25°).

The base configuration ships with palm-shaped hands; a dexterous 5-finger hand with 6 DoF is available as an optional end-effector upgrade. Maximum arm payload is 3 kg, and maximum peak motor torque is 200 Nm (strongest motor). Maximum walking speed is 5 km/h (approximately 1.39 m/s). An upgraded thermal management system keeps joint surfaces cool during extended operation, and the battery management system is enhanced over the prior generation to improve endurance.

Motion control is handled by a Rockchip RK3588 module (16 GB RAM, 256 GB storage). The perception compute slot is not populated in the standard configuration. The 10,000 mAh drawer-style battery provides approximately 4 hours of runtime, charges in approximately 1 hour at 58.8 V / 10 A, and supports hot-swap replacement. Charger input is 110 V to 220 V. The interaction system integrates a face screen, microphone, speaker, and LED indicator strip. The sensor suite includes a proprietary 6-axis IMU and an RGB camera. Connectivity is WiFi 6 and Bluetooth. The robot supports OTA firmware updates, a mobile app for basic operation and state switching, and an optional Content Development Kit with a tablet and custom software for video imitation, manual teaching, choreography, smart tasks, teleoperation, and swarm control.

Connectivity

  • WiFi 6 supported
  • Bluetooth supported
  • OTA updates supported
  • Charger input: 110 V to 220 V AC; output 58.8 V / 10 A

Capabilities

  • Sys 0 Second-Generation Motion Engine:
Upgraded joint motors and thermal management deliver fluid, dynamic performance during extended operations, with peak motor torque of 200 Nm and a maximum walking speed of 5 km/h.
  • 200+ Unit Swarm Synchronisation:
Intelligent swarm control coordinates over 200 Luna units at millisecond precision from a single command, enabling large-scale synchronised performance deployments.
  • Video-to-Motion Imitation:
Uploads a video file and automatically analyses and replicates the human movements within it as executable robot motion, removing the need for manual motion programming for new routines.
  • AI Task Editor:
Accepts plain-language scenario descriptions and composes complete task sequences combining dance, motion, visual, and voice elements autonomously, the first such tool in the interactive humanoid category per LimX Dynamics.
  • Kinesthetic Teaching:
Direct physical guidance of the robot's limbs records movement paths for playback, providing an intuitive non-code teaching method for custom motions.
  • Multi-Layer Safety Architecture:
Active fall mitigation via real-time posture monitoring, external force sensing with automatic motion stop, a hardware emergency stop button, and safe action override with real-time interruption and reset provide comprehensive operational safety for public environments.
