The NEO Gamma by 1X Technologies is a next-generation humanoid robot specifically tailored for home environments. It stands about 1.62 meters tall and features a minimalist, soft hull crafted from 3D-printed knit nylon, offering flexibility, safety, and a non-intimidating presence. The robot’s joints use tendon-driven actuation covered with soft materials to ensure safe and quiet motions suitable for interaction around people, including children and pets. A distinctive feature is its "Emotive Ear Rings," LED-like visual feedback elements on the head that enhance communication and intuitiveness.
Advanced Mobility and Object Handling
NEO Gamma is equipped with a multipurpose whole-body controller that enables natural human-like gait, synchronized arm swings, squatting, and sitting while maintaining balance. Reinforcement learning from human motion capture data drives its smooth and dynamic movements. Its hands are articulated with jointed, covered fingers designed for manipulating a broad variety of objects even in previously unseen environments, thanks to an AI-trained visual manipulation model. This allows NEO Gamma to perform everyday tasks such as cleaning tables, opening heavy doors, serving food and drinks, and more around the home.
Intelligent Interaction and Communication
The robot integrates a proprietary Large Language Model (LLM) developed in-house by 1X for natural and fluid conversations. This AI engine enables NEO Gamma to interpret and respond to voice commands conversationally, while also making use of body language for more intuitive companionship. The audio system includes four microphones with beamforming and echo cancellation for precise voice capture, complemented by a three-speaker setup that supports 360-degree sound and clear speech. The noise level during operation is as quiet as a refrigerator, ensuring seamless integration into household environments without disturbing daily life.
