UK Unveils Its First Humanoid Robot: HMND 01 Aiming to Revolutionize Industrial Automation

In a groundbreaking development for the UK robotics industry, the startup Humanoid has introduced HMND 01, the country's very first humanoid robot designed for industrial use. Engineered and developed in just seven months, HMND 01 represents one of the fastest humanoid development cycles worldwide.

Standing at 220 centimeters tall and equipped with wheels, HMND 01 can reach speeds up to 7.2 kilometers per hour while carrying payloads exceeding 15 kilograms. Its hybrid design allows it to operate effectively in warehouses, logistics hubs, and retail environments by performing repetitive, physically demanding tasks such as picking and sorting goods, machine feeding, loading and unloading, and order fulfillment.

Founder Artem Sokolov emphasizes Humanoid’s vision that humans and machines will work side-by-side in harmony, helping address growing labor shortages and boosting productivity without costly infrastructure changes commonly required by traditional automation. The robot operates on a robots-as-a-service business model and has already completed two commercial proofs of concept, with plans to launch a Beta version next year.

Robots shouldn't replace people, they should support them. HMND 01 is built to fill the labour gaps, letting people to focus on more meaningful work."
-Artem Sokolov, Founder of Humanoid

Backed by a diverse team including veterans from Apple, Tesla, Google, Boston Dynamics, and Nvidia, HMND 01 puts the UK firmly on the map in the burgeoning global humanoid robotics race. As experts predict rising demand for flexible automation systems, HMND 01 aims to become a versatile workforce partner across industries, helping reshape the future of work.
